Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe
This is a two-phased project with work beginning in the historic Binz Building.
This project begins with the work on the Binz Building. Currently, the historic, 18,000 square-foot Binz building is merely an air-conditioned shell that provided substandard rehearsal facilities with concrete floors, walls, and ceiling. The WCBTT wanted to preserve the charming outside while modernizing the barren inside. The goal is to create a usable, productive space with rooms for on-site education programs and entertainment areas as well as for administrative offices. A new rooftop complex for group events/rentals will also be included.
Renovation of the Existing Theatre Building
The second phase of this project will renovate the entire existing theatre building with a new lobby entrance and concession area, comfortable, permanent seats, larger restrooms, upgraded dressing rooms and rehearsal space for cast members, and improved parking facilities for all. These renovations will enhance patrons’ theatergoing experience and actors’ working conditions. New HVAC, lighting, and sound equipment will be included as well as renovations to the stage areas.
